our story
How It All Began
For over seventy years Youth for Christ has been communicating the life-changing message of Jesus Christ to young people.
Youth for Christ was born in the mid-1940s through God’s calling that simultaneously prompted dozens of leaders in various places to focus on the young people that churches couldn’t reach.

This led to young evangelists leading mass rallies in many cities under the name of Youth for Christ throughout the USA and worldwide.
With the rapid expansion of the movement, there soon arose a need for leadership and organization
In 1944, Chicago pastor Torrey Johnson was elected Youth for Christ’s first president with Billy Graham as the first full-time evangelist.
Six months after Hurricane Maria, YFCI missionaries Daniel & Laura Peal arrived on the island of Puerto Rico to pioneer Youth For Christ ministry for the first time in the history of the organization.
After more than 30 years of prayer by YFCI staff, the ministry of Youth For Christ finally arrived to Puerto Rico in the aftermath of the worst disaster it had ever faced.

Weekly meetings began in Quebradillas in late 2018 as the Peals began building relationships with local churches & likeminded partners.

On February 2nd, Youth For Christ Puerto Rico officially became a non-profit on the island. Daniel Peal was officially named National Director.
Later that year, YFC PR began ministry in both private and public schools in the northwest region. Weekly ministry was also taking place in the home of the National Director.

In September, YFC Puerto Rico was given the honor of hosting the YFCI Caribbean conference.
Puerto Rico faced the challenge of thousands of earthquakes as 2020 began. Youth For Christ Puerto Rico worked together with likeminded partners in Guanica to help those in need in the aftermath of the earthquakes. Despite the challenges, YFC Puerto Rico met all requirements and became a chartered member of YFC International.

Shortly after, COVID-19 shut down all ministry for YFC Puerto Rico. Virtual ministry began on Zoom with students & leaders.
In the midst of a season where face to face ministry was not possible, the Lord made a way for YFC Puerto Rico to purchase a property for the ministry in Aguadilla.
